FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
- To rent scooters and small motorcycles, all you need is your passport, driver's license, and the address of your accommodation in Batumi. If you don't have a category A/A1 license, but only a category B license, a 250 GEL deposit (+/- $95) is required, and only 125cc scooters are available.
- For larger motorcycles and trikes, an additional $200-$300 deposit is required.
- If your combined weight (boy and girl) doesn't exceed 160 kg, our 125cc scooters are the best choice.
- If it exceeds that, a manual motorcycle is better.
- For greater comfort and longer distances, we recommend 300cc+ bikes.
- Unfortunately, scooters and motorcycles aren't insured in Georgia. But I can say one thing: in my five years of working at a motorcycle rental shop here, everything has always been fine. My bikes are reliable and sturdy, they're inexpensive, and I rarely crash, but even if something does happen to a bike (well, a small crash), I charge a small fee for repairs.
- Payment and reservations can be made in cash in dollars, euros, lari, or to a card from a Georgian, Russian, or European (Revolut) bank.
- One bike comes with TWO helmets. Helmets are available in different sizes (small - large) and shape (full face - helmet).
- Of course, a license is preferable. Scooters up to 125cc require an A1 license, while more powerful vehicles and motorcycles require an A license. The police rarely check motorcyclists, but they do want to make sure you haven't been drinking alcohol (this is a serious matter here). If you don't have a license, I can get you a good two-seater scooter, provided you have a car license (category B) plus a 250 lari (+/- $95) deposit.
- It is not possible, since for this you need to have a residence permit / Georgian citizenship + the bike must be registered in your name (these are the conditions of the border guards here).
- Driving without a helmet: 100 GEL (+-$37).
- Driving under the influence: up to 2,000 GEL and license revocation (up to +-$740).
- Driving WITHOUT a license: 500 GEL for the driver and 700 GEL for the owner (185 and 260 USD, respectively).
- Driving without a category A/A1 license: 200 GEL, but that's only if you have a category B license (75 USD).
- Speeding from 15-40 km/h: 100 GEL (+-$37 USD).
These fines are extremely rare, and 95% of my clients are fine, but don't push life too far (in Georgia, karma comes back quickly).
- It's best not to do this, as the rental agreement is in your name, and you know yourself and know how to ride, so it's best not to take responsibility for other people. If someone wants to ride a bike, refer them to me, and they'll rent a separate bike directly under their name.
Delivery is available:
- within Batumi: 30 GEL per bike (or you can pick it up and drop it off yourself for free; the garage is located in the area (here), but please arrange a meeting in advance).
- outside Batumi: 60 GEL from 10 km, 90 GEL from 20 km, etc.
Rental rates and prices listed on my website are per day, 24 hours. If you'd like to extend your rental for another day or two, just let me know. Extending your rental for a few hours is also possible for a small additional fee.
